(October 13, 2024, updated October 26, 2024) This tale was found copied within a book of law. It was given the title of "Caldron of Poesy" by its first translator. Its most authoritative translation comes from 1981 and was done by the scholar Liam Breatnach. All later and popular translations are based upon his work. He suggested this tale should be called "The Three Cauldrons of Poetry and Knowledge."
Liam Breatnach divided the tale into 16 paragraphs. Yet he could not translate the existing text so he "corrected" it which is a major sin in modern linguistics. Liam Breatnach provided a translation of the main text which he calls a "restored" text. At least his article still provided the original text for comparison. Another problem with Liam Breatnach's "restored" translation is that it uneasily mixes Latin in with the Celtic known from later texts. This indicates the restoration is not even plausible.
The English word "cauldron" comes from Latin calidarium meaning "hot bath," and from calidus meaning "warm, hot."
The Welsh Gaelic word for Cauldron is "crochan." The /kr/ sound in the Celtic words indicates its word lineage different from Latin. The Welsh word comes from the Akkadian phrase K-R'-Ḫ-AN meaning "Involved with Shepherding of Hu's Considerations" where "considerations are focused emotions used in emotion magic. Hu was the life fluid transporting sun god. Thus, a Welsh magical cauldron was a magical tool used to support life.
The Irish Gaelic word for "cauldron" is "coire" It comes from the Akkadian phrase K'-IR-E meaning "Prodder of the astrological-powers so they can be ineffective." Irish cauldrons were also used to support life but in a different way. They were a magical tool which kept the powers of fate away.
This text was written during a drought. Severe European wide, multiyear, droughts occurred in the years: 40, 590, 950 and 1510 CE (Büntgen, and all 2021, Warner, 1993). The drought referenced in this text probably dates to 590 CE.
Liam Breatnach and other Gaelic linguists date the tale to the end of the 800's CE although the law book in which is was found dates to 1539. Yet the original seems to go back to 590 CE as that is the last major prior drought recorded in Ireland from tree ring data. The Gaelic linguist's date derives from the fact that they cannot translate it so it has to be 900 CE or earlier.

Early Christian Ireland began after the country emerged from a mysterious decline in population and standards of living that archaeological evidence suggests lasted from c. 100 to 300 AD. During this period, called the Irish Dark Age by Thomas Charles-Edwards, the population was entirely rural and dispersed, with small ringforts the largest centres of human occupation. Some 40,000 of these are known, although there may have been as many as 50,000, and "archaeologists are agreed that the vast bulk of them are the farm enclosures of the well-to-do of early medieval Ireland".
The first reliable historical event in Irish history, recorded in the Chronicle of Prosper of Aquitaine, is the ordination by Pope Celestine I of Palladius as the first bishop to Irish Christians in 431 – which demonstrates that there were already Christians living in Ireland. Prosper says in his Contra Collatorem that by this act Celestine "made the barbarian island Christian", although it is clear the Christianisation of the island was a longer and more gradual process. The mission of Saint Patrick is traditionally dated around the same time – the earliest date for his arrival in Ireland in the Irish annals is 432 – although Patrick's own writings contain nothing securely dateable. It is likely that Palladius' activities were in the south of Ireland, perhaps associated with Cashel, while Patrick's were later, in the north, and associated with Armagh.
By the early 6th century the church had developed separate dioceses, with bishops as the most senior ecclesiastical figures, but the country was still predominantly pagan. The High Kings of Ireland continued pagan practices until the reign of Diarmait mac Cerbaill c. 558, traditionally the first Christian High King. The monastic movement, headed by abbots, took hold in the mid 6th century, and by 700 Ireland was at least nominally a Christian country, with the church fully part of Irish society. The status of ecclesiastics was regulated by secular law, and many leading ecclesiastics came from aristocratic Irish families. Monasteries in the 8th century even went to war with each other.

Alu (Akkadian ALu, god Alu - This is the masculine life-power source god of the Ancient Pagan Paradigm. He was the first cause and hence he is “that power which lacks” (A.Lu) any other power affecting him. Alu’s complementary feminine source power was Kate/Hekate who as the "Revealer" revealed selected souls then residing in the underworld awaiting their reincarnation. Alu was associated with the daytime divine realm above the earth plane while Kate was associated with the dark night-time and cave-like underworld below the earth plane. Alu’s created life-powers were called “fertility-fluids (Akkadian mu)” which flowed to earth as directed by the life network where they either triggered the manifestations of life forms or were manifested directly as "nourishments (ba)" becoming sun light/heat and rain: Lines 2.6, 4.3, 4.9, 4.11, 6.6, 9.5, 9.6, 10.8,
Ayu (Akkadian AYu, This is feminine life-power connective goddess who transports Kate's souls to the from the underworld to the upper world. She is the crescent moon goddess who is thought of as a boat and is actually called the "Reed Boat" in the near east. She is the feminine complement to the masculine sun power of Hu who transports the fluid-like life powers to earth as sun light/heat and rain.): Lines 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 3.3, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 4.3, 4.5, 4.9, 4.10, 5.1, 5.4, 6.4, 6.6, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.6, 7.8, 7.9, 8.5, 8.9, 8.11, 8.12, 8.15, 9.2, 9.4, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.14, 10.17, 11.1, 11.2, 11.5, 11.6, 11.11, 11.13, 11.20, 11.21, 11.24,
Hu (Akkadian Ḫu, This is the masculine life-power connective god who represented the life network which channels the life powers from Alu. He nourished and sustained life via sun light/heat and the storm clouds which brought rain. Moving rain clouds were imagined as a herd of running wild cattle so in this role he was the storm bull. Hu is called the “Healer” (Akkadian ḫelû) which is the source for the Greek word “Helios” which refers to their sun god. The Celtic sun god “Lugh” seems to be a direct derivative of Hu. His feminine complement is the goddess Ayu who edits the connections of the life-network.): Lines 4.8, 4.9, 4.10, 4.11, 5.7, 6.4, 6.6, 7.3, 7.7, 8.8. 8.9, 8.10, 8.12, 8.14, 10.1, 10.5, 10.13, 11.23,
Kate/Hekate (Akkadian KaTû, This is the life-power source goddess and revealer of souls. She "reveals" selected souls residing in the underworld for reincarnation in bodies or as spirits. As a gathering power for discarded (dead) life she is the lady of the chalice. She uses eagle-vultures to cut individual threads of life in the life network in order to return souls to the underworld. Hence she is involved in both life and death. She is usually an enemy of the motion powers (Selene, Thu, both astrology and emotion magic) because their functions somewhat overlapped. The souls of Kate had to become "involved" with Selene's sparks of life (spirits). Souls represented the personality of a person. The word "Kate" in Akkdian means "depleter power." When Kate is acting on the life network she is "Hekate" meaning "Hu's depleter power."): Lines 10.5,
Selu/Selene (Akkadian SeLu, ŠeLu, This is the feminine motion-power goddess who is associated with the astrological celestial lights and the emotion-generating spark of life. She represents their visible external form. The word “Selene” means “powers of Selu with its /en/ ending.”): Lines 8.8,
Su (Akkadian Su, This is the masculine motion-power source god of the Ancient Pagan Paradigm. Su is represented by both the dark new moon and the pupil of the eye so he represents both the astrological and emotional components of the motion power class but in their hidden form. This eye correspondence gives rise to Su’s main epithet which is “observer.” The new moon defines the monthly cycles so Su is also “father time” or "time-keeper" (Akkadian šattu). Large eyed owls are associated with him as harbingers of change. ): Lines 1.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4, 4.3, 4.6, 4.11, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 8.2, 8.10, 8.11, 8.15, 10.2, 10.3, 10.5, 10.6, 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, 10.12, 10.13, 10.14, 10.15, 11.20,
Thu (Akkadian Ṭu, This is the hermaphrodite motion-power (astrological and emotional) connective and manifestation deity most closely associated with raw emotions, most commonly sex. This cross-gender representation is because it is a connective deity who crosses boundaries. Because of its boundary-crossing role, its priests are most involved in integrating motion powers with life powers.): Lines 1.1, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 4.3, 4.4, 4.7, 5.3, 5.6, 5.7, 6.6, 7.10, 8.6, 9.8, 10.1, 10.5, 10.10, 10.12, 10.17,
Yahu/Yahweh (Akkadian I’u, Ya’u, Ia’u, EA, IHu, YaHu, This is the form manifestation god who represents the triggering of the invisible "things-given" on earth. These "things-given" are the universal Platonic-forms of Greek philosophy. This existence of this concept in all runic texts indicates that the Greeks got this idea from the earlier Druid civilization. This usually refers to life forms but after also to the formation of pottery and metal items.: Lines 4.1, 6.6, 6.8, 7.3, 7.4, 7.6, 7.8, 8.4, 8.6, 8.15, 9.1, 9.2, 10.1,

Moon-Eye (Akkadian Inu, this is an epithet for the motion source god Su, the dark new moon which was also considered to be the pupil of the eye. He was associated with astrology-magic and emotion-magic but not the astrological powers of fate. This concept became a derogatory adjective in English leading to the word “luny.”: Lines 1.3, 1.7, 2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 4.1, 4.8, 4.10, 5.1, 6.1, 6.5, 6.6, 6.8, 7.1, 7.8, 7.10, 8.2, 8.5, 8.9, 8.13, 9.1, 9.2, 9.6, 9.6, 10.1, 10.2, 10.4, 10.5, 10.14, 11.1, 11.6, 11.14, 11.20,

These classifications mostly follow the Ancient Pagan Paradigm with its 3 layers of divine powers.
Shepherds (Akkadian Rē’û, RēYû, These shamans and bards are associated with the dark new moon god Su and the celestial light (star and moon) goddess Selu/Selene. They are the source of all voluntary motion/emotion powers. They do astrology-magic from Su and emotion magic involving the sparks of life (stars and inner feelings) from Selu/Selene. This set of motion powers are different from the astrology-fate-powers of the planets (the zodiac-houses). While the shepherds can reveal and prod (edit) those astrology-fate-powers they cannot change their inevitable manifestations. Nourishments (fertility fluids of the life network) can be opened by Shepherds because they affect its flow rate. Attunements (logos) involve the shepherds. Emotional-curses can involve shepherds. These are the "Bards" in the classic Druid texts who are associated with enhancing the motion sources. "Bard" means "Nourishers of the Drivers" from B.RD. The gospel of Matthew associates Jesus with being a shepherd in addition to associating him with the Magi who work with the connective layer of the motion powers. Lines 1.2, 7.3, 8.13, 10.5, 11.10,
Weavers, Vates (Akkadian UTu, Vate), These priests seek to affect the shape and connections of the life network by using emotion magic to influence Kate/Hekate's eagle-vultures. They are called "Revealers of fertility-fluids" and "Revealers of Ayu" : Lines 10.12, 11.21,
Magi (Akkadian MaGi, These priests seek to affect the flow rate of the life-network's fertility fluids by using emotion magic and influencing the astrological-powers. The Magi can activate changes. Seers (Bards) (Akkadian BaRû, Seers open the manifestations and results of motion-changes and hence they can see them before others. The "Bards" mentioned in classical texts about the Druids means the same thing coming from the Akkadian phrase BR.D meaning "Seers of manifestations."): Lines

Part of the transition from Akkadian to modern languages in northern Europe seems to have involved some common Akkadian phrases becoming words of their own right in the new languages. Below are Akkadian phrases which would have been candidates for Irish Gaelic words. Modern Irish is mostly a mix of Akkadian and Latin. Welsh Gaelic is significantly different. The two are so different that both should not even be classed as the same language family. Welsh seems to have much more Indo-European source words.
